Poem of the Day

What a beautiful sunny morning we had again today, if a chilly one. The journey down the Stour Valley to work at Daws Hall was only improved by the light frost, but as our office windows face north it can take a while, and a strong coffee, to warm up.

As we looked out on the day from the office, Major Grahame was inspired to share this poem, 'Yonder See the Morning', by AE Housman, which we found as (oddly) uplifting in the first verse as it is undoubtedly true in the second.

Yonder see the morning blink:

The sun is up, and up must I,

To wash and dress and eat and drink

And look at things and talk and think

And work, and God knows why.

Oh often have I washed and dressed

And what's to show for all my pain?

Let me lie abed and rest:

Ten thousand times I've done my best

And all's to do again.
